Okposo will not play Thursday against Montreal, John Vogl of The Buffalo News reports.

Okposo injured his knee during practice last week when he got hit by a puck. With Jack Eichel (ankle) suffering an injury Wednesday, making his status for the opener unclear, the Sabres are now missing two top-six forwards. That opens the door for Zemgus Girgensons and/or Sam Reinhart to play bigger roles. It's unknown when Okposo will return, but the injury is not believed to be particularly serious. The Sabres' next game will be Sunday in Edmonton, giving Okposo plenty of time to recuperate.
