Head coach Dan Bylsma is "holding out hope" that Ennis (concussion) will be able to return before the end of the season, reports The Buffalo News.

Ennis has not played since Dec. 30, his potential breakout season derailed by injuries. His absence has hurt the Sabres offense, but has also created opportunities for Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart and even current second-line winger Nicolas Deslauriers to play bigger roles. Ennis was the Sabres' top scorer last season, but is unlikely to be the focal point of the offense moving forward. That responsibility will be increasingly laid upon Eichel, Reinhart and Evander Kane.
