LOOK: Johanna Konta wins three-hour slugfest at Wimbledon and Britain is amped
Konta has battled through injury and fatigue to get to the third round

Good luck stopping Johanna Konta at Wimbledon. The top-ranked British player, who shook off a nasty spill last month to beat World No. 1 Angelique Kerber, advanced to the third round of Wimbledon on Wednesday after defeating Donna Vekic in a three-set, 3-hour marathon.
Needless to say, the home crowd was pumped.

The final set took an hour and 19 minutes, but Konta emerged victorious 7-6 4-6 10-8. Konta entered the tournament battling a spine injury suffered during her match with Kerber, which stopped that match for nearly 10 minutes for treatment. It wasn't your average tennis fall.

"It's a nice feeling not to have to keep going out there," Konta said following her win Wednesday. "We were out there a long time and both of us battled incredibly hard."
Konta lost to Vekic in Birmingham last month, but she was able to outlast her the second time around. "I think I overall trusted my game a bit more this time," she said. "I'm definitely here with the intention of wanting to be a part of the event for the full two weeks."
Konta has shown tremendous grit thus far, and she will be facing 21-year-old Greek Maria Sakkari in the Round of 32. Konta is seeking to become the first British player to win at Wimbledon in 40 years, when Virginia Wade took the title.
