Meanwhile, Johnson recorded his eighth consecutive title fight victory and defended his flyweight championship with a brutal knockout of former Olympic wrestling gold medalist Henry Cejudo after just 2 minutes, 49 seconds of the first round.
UFC commentator Joe Rogan labeled Johnson “the best pound-for-pound fighter I've ever seen” after the win, which came when the dynamic 125-pounder landed a right elbow to the head, two right knees to the body and a stunning left knee to the jaw that sent Cejudo reeling across the cage.
He tumbled backward to the floor and was quickly saved by the referee.
Jones entered the night ranked No. 1 on the UFC’s pound-for-pound list. Johnson was second.
“I hit (Cejudo) with a left knee to the liver and I heard him go, 'Urrrrgh,' and I knew it was over," Johnson said. "That's organic fighting right there."
