Being an official in any sport is a thankless job. You go about your business quietly and, hopefully, nobody even notices that you're there.
Unfortunately, the official at this track and field meet was noticed for all the wrong reasons after a competitor's throw got away from her and struck him -- in a very sensitive area.
This is a one-in-a-million accident, but the official might not want to stand quite so close next time.
Hopefully he's recovering well, and chances are he's given his officiating career some serious thought.
