Golfer bitten by black widow spider, digs venom out with a tee

I thought the only black widow in sports was this one?

Apparently not. Daniela Holmqvist of Sweden was bitten on the leg by a black widow spider while playing a qualifier for the LPGA's ISPS Handa Australian Open in Yarralumla, Australia.

She gave Svensk Golf the following, quite scary recount:

"When I told the local caddies in my group what had happened, they got very upset and said it was a black widow, and immediately started looking for their phones to call the medics."

But, get this: When the medics didn't arrive quickly enough, she just dug the bite open with a tee and squeezed the venom out herself!

Holmqvist talked about the incident:

A clear fluid came out, it wasn't the prettiest thing I've ever done, but I had to get as much of it out of me as possible.

Well, I guess so.

The craziest part of the entire story is that she went on to finish her round, shooting a 74 -- and missing out on qualifying for the tournament.
