The British Open starts three weeks from today. Pretty crazy, right? I need about four vacations to recover from the final round of that U.S. Open but no such luck for golf in 2016. Bovada even has odds out for this year's British Open champion. Excuse me, champion golfer of the year.

The venue is Troon, which has seen Todd Hamilton, Justin Leonard and Mark Calcavecchia as its last three champions. Here's who Vegas has tabbed in 2016.

Favorites

  • Rory McIlroy: 7-1
  • Jason Day: 7-1
  • Jordan Spieth: 7-1

No surprise here. Though would you maybe have Dustin Johnson at least in this ballpark after that performance at Oakmont? Maybe 8-1 or 15-2?

Other favorites

  • Dustin Johnson: 10-1
  • Adam Scott: 18-1
  • Rickie Fowler: 22-1
  • Justin Rose: 22-1
  • Sergio Garcia: 22-1

There is a large swath of us golf writers who are riding so hard for Sergio at Troon. I think you probably know what that means. I don't love any of these guys at those numbers.

Fringe Favorites

  • Danny Willett: 25-1
  • Branden Grace: 25-1
  • Henrik Stenson: 33-1
  • Louis Oosthuizen: 33-1
  • Phil Mickelson: 33-1
  • Shane Lowry: 33-1

This is where it gets pretty interesting. Oosthuizen, Lowry and Grace are all tasty at 25-1 or higher. Mickelson, no. Is Willett going to win two majors in a year? I can't really see that happening.

Others

  • Hideki Matsuyama: 40-1
  • Bubba Watson: 40-1
  • Martin Kaymer: 40-1
  • Brooks Koepka: 40-1
  • Lee Westwood: 40-1
  • Paul Casey: 50-1
  • Patrick Reed: 50-1
  • Zach Johnson: 50-1
  • Brandt Snedeker: 50-1
  • Jim Furyk: 50-1
  • Matthew Fitzpatrick: 50-1
  • Charl Schwartzel: 50-1
  • Tiger Woods: 66-1

Haha, I just had to include Tiger on there. If you legitimately hate the look, feel or ownership of American dollars, he's the guy for you. I like a lot of the guys at these numbers including Johnson, Fitzpatrick and Casey. Watson will never win a British Open, but Koepka, Matsuyama and Reed could.

One of the favorites. USATSI
