Rory McIlroy has been out for a month with a ruptured ligament in his left ankle that he suffered two weeks prior to the British Open. While there have been no official updates on McIlroy's health, the most recent report from Reuters suggests that his recovery is on track, if not ahead of schedule.

Reuters is reporting that McIlroy will be flying to Whistling Straits, the site of the PGA Championship, on Saturday to play a practice round. McIlroy's agent did not respond to Reuters request for comment and an employee at Whistling Straits would not confirm that McIlroy has a practice round scheduled.

Despite missing the last month due to injury, McIlroy is still the No. 1 player in the World Golf Rankings, but that standing is in jeopardy this week. If Jordan Spieth were to win the WGC-Bridgestone, he would vault into the top spot ahead of McIlroy.

McIlroy is the reigning champion at the PGA Championship, winning the 2014 PGA by one-stroke over Phil Mickelson at Valhalla. The 2015 PGA Championship begins Thursday, August 13, which would be just over five weeks since McIlroy suffered his injury playing soccer.
