This overhead footage of Oakmont is a reminder of just how sweet the national tournament is going to be

The U.S. Open is going to be insane. You already knew that though, right?
Fox and the USGA have done a good job here showing drone footage of the first Open at Oakmont since 2007. The course is going to play just over 7,200 yards, but it includes the longest par 3 in U.S. Open history (more on that in a second) and a crazy long par 4 closing hole.
Here's a look at No. 18, which looks like I'd find about six bunkers and make a 11 on it. What's more interesting to me is actually the short par-4 17th that precedes it. There's a real chance that if, say, Rory McIlroy is two back late on Sunday, he'll try to fly one onto the green on No. 17.
Take a look at both of those, and then we'll look at the wicked No. 8.
The 8th hole will play 288 yards (and could play up to a little over 300). But at least it's an easy green to hit .... hahaha, just kidding! Phil Mickelson somewhat famously called it a par three-and-a-half back in 2007. It would be about a six and a half for me.
As an aside, I want more drone footage of more courses. What is the downside here? You get to see the true way players play some of the most difficult holes in golf from the comfort of your living room (or office desk) and take a peek at some of the prettiest golf courses in the nation. Awesome stuff.
