WATCH: Rory McIlroy doesn't need a putter, dunks approach shot at the Ryder Cup
Rory McIlroy knows the best way to avoid any putter issues is to just hole out from the fairway
Rory McIlroy is feeling great coming into the Ryder Cup after winning the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup on Sunday at East Lake -- and $11.5 million in the process.
As Europe's biggest star, McIlroy has plenty of pressure coming into the Ryder Cup, but he seems pretty loose right now. McIlroy and some of his European teammates had fun with a heckling American fan on the practice green on Thursday, pulling him out of the crowd to make a putt they were struggling with -- he sunk it and won $100 off of Justin Rose.
While he's loose, don't confuse a relaxed demeanor for a golfer not dialed in. McIlroy played a practice round on Thursday as well and showed off how crisp his ball-striking is right now with a slam dunk from the fairway.

For a player that's had his issues with the putter at times, this is a pretty good way to avoid shaky flat stick work. The Americans would prefer that McIlroy not fly the ball into the hole regularly this weekend and instead are hoping that he's forced to putt out a lot and test those nerves with the putter.
