Bryce Harper steals home, first time for teenager since '64

By Matt Snyder | Baseball Writer
The Bryce Harper era is off to an outstanding start pretty much any way you look at it. Sunday night, he added another layer. After getting hit by a Cole Hamels pitch, Harper eventually found himself on third base. When Hamels went to throw over to first, Harper took off and raced toward home. And he was safe. It counts as a stolen base, so Harper stole home.

It was Harper's first career stolen base, but there are bigger things to celebrate here.

According to Elias Sports Bureau (via Mark Zuckerman on Twitter), this was the first time a player still in his teens stole home since 1964, when Ed Kirkpatrick did so for the Angels.

Harper doesn't turn 20 until October 16.
