Diamondbacks starter Daniel Hudson was forced to leave his start Tuesday night in the second inning against the Braves with an injury. He immediately motioned to the dugout after a pitch, and then when manager Kirk Gibson got close, cameras clearly showed Hudson say, "my elbow is (bleeping) done."
For now, the Diamondbacks have told reporters (including Nick Piecoro) that Hudson has "tightness in his right forearm." But I read Hudson's lips and I wasn't alone (several others on Twitter made the same observation). It's just that the club likely hasn't had the chance to thoroughly examine Hudson's elbow. We'll surely hear more in terms of the severity of the injury in the upcoming days.
Hudson was on the disabled list earlier this season with a shoulder impingement. He entered the game 3-1 with a 6.60 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. Last season, Hudson was effective for the D-Backs. He was 16-12 with a 3.49 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 222 innings.
