Both the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles won Thursday, meaning each club forced a Game 5 in its respective series.

More playoff coverage

Is this news? Well, yes, it actually is. The news is that -- along with the two Game 5s that took place Thursday -- all four divisional series went the distance. There have been divisional series in baseball since 1995 and this is the first time that all four series went five games.

So in addition to all the drama we saw in the past week, which has been jaw-dropping, Major League Baseball's divisional series playoff round has now made history. Not only that, the mathematical chances all four series go the distance is incredibly slim. Colin Wyers of Baseball Prospectus calculates that the chances of this happening are 2.56 percent.

Basically, it's a damn great time to be a baseball fan. Soak it all in, but strap it in and prepare for more. We have two games left in divisional play and then three entire series of fun left.
