It's official: Giants sign Jeremy Affeldt to three-year contract

The world-champion Giants have re-upped with a key member of their bullpen: lefty Jeremy Affeldt has signed a three-year contract through the 2015 season, the team announced on Wednesday. The new pact will pay Affeldt a total of $18 million.

This past season, Affeldt, age 33, put up an ERA of 2.70 across 63 1/3 innings. In four seasons as a Giant, he boasts a 2.73 ERA, and his career mark checks in at 4.01 (there are, however, 42 starts baked into that figure).

As for Affeldt himself, the prospect of returning to the Giants makes him all happy and stuff ...
