If you watched the World Series or really any Tigers games last season, then you probably noticed that Delmon Young was a little on the portly side. Maybe not all the way fat, but a little chunky. Considering he once looked like this, I'd say the extra weight was noticeable.
The Phillies sure took notice. They put six weight clauses in the outfielder's new one-year contract, according to Dan Gelston of the Associated Press...
Delmon Young's contract calls for him to get on a scale on six occasions to be chosen by the Phillies.

Delmon Young must be 230 pounds or less the first 3 times he's weighed. 235 pounds or less on the 2nd 3. Gets 100K each time he makes weight

For what it's worth, the 27-year-old Young is currently listed at 240 pounds on the team's official site, so he doesn't have a long way to go to meet his first weigh-in. Six-hundred grand for shedding 10 pounds and keeping it off all season is pretty good cash, though I suppose he could have made himself millions this winter had he done a better job of staying in shape last year.
