Diamondbacks OF Yasmany Tomas benched for lack of hustle

Diamondbacks third baseman/outfielder Yasmany Tomas believed he was giving full effort running to first base in the sixth inning Saturday. Chip Hale disagreed.
The result is that David Peralta replaced Tomas in right field for the bottom of the inning.
Tomas hit a routine grounder to Astros first baseman Chris Carter, who trotted to the bag and stepped on it. Tomas jogged about two-thirds of the way to first before peeling off. Carter stopped and turned toward the Arizona dugout.
"You now what, that's between Yasmany and myself," Hale told azcentral.com when asked about the benching. "We take care of this stuff inside the family here."
Hale assured that Tomas would be in the lineup Sunday. Meanwhile, Tomas insisted he was going all out.
"Yes, every day I try to do that," he said. "One hundred percent every single day. ... When the first baseman touched the base, I stopped."
