WATCH: Foul ball turns into an outstanding catch then turns into nachos
The Padres third baseman fell into the crowd and came up with a glove full of nacho cheese
In the ninth inning of the Padres' 4-1 win over the Giants on Friday night, we saw one of the more entertaining plays you'll see in a game. It had all the panache of Derek Jeter flying into the stands, but this time there was nacho cheese instead of blood. And, really, that's better for everyone.
The catch by Yangervis Solarte? 'Tis here:

That's a very good catch, but the cheese really takes it up a few levels. Sort of like this one going to 11. Let us watch the entire thing.
If nothing else, realize the Padres broadcast team of Don Orsillo and Mark Grant are top notch. This is still pretty great on many levels, though.
I can't search any database to determine the validity of such a claim, but I'm gonna go nuts anyway: That's the first time a ball has ever been 1/4 covered in nacho cheese while in the process of a player recording an out.
