Rival teams looking to struggling Brewers for possible deals
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

With the Brewers looking more and more like eventual sellers, rival teams are saying pitchers Matt Garza and Kyle Lohse have limited trade value, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

Early on, teams seem to be preferring Lohse due to his pending free agency at the end of the season, and his excellent clubhouse presence. Both pitchers have struggled this season, each with an ERA over 5.00 in nine starts.

Heyman also notes that teams are unsure if the Brewers would consider trading young shortstop Jean Segura, who is currently on the disabled list with a broken finger. There seems to also be uncertainty whether catcher Jonathan Lucroy or outfielder Carlos Gomez would be available, though Gomez would probably be the most likely to go since his contract is up after the 2016 season.

Brewers OF Carlos Gomez remains on roll with three-hit game
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez has hit safely in 18 of his last 21 games. But he did something Tuesday night he had not achieved in any of those games. He slugged three hits.

He now owns a season-high in batting average with .286 and on-base percentage (.301). He nearly made it a clean sweep, but his slugging percentage of .517 is one point off his season-best.

Gomez has 12 hits in his last 31 at-bats with three home runs and eight RBI. His three hits in Detroit included a double.

CF Carlos Gomez returns to lineup after beaning, HRs in Brewers' win
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer

One day after taking a 97-mph fastball off his helmet, center fielder Carlos Gomez returned to the lineup Monday and connected for a leadoff home run in the Brewers' win over the Tigers.

Gomez exited Sunday's game after suffering a facial contusion from the beaning by the Mets starter Noah Syndergaard.

"He passed all the tests [Sunday]," Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. "As long as the doctor clears everything, and he felt fine, and he wanted to play, it was OK."

Gomez also delivered a tiebreaking single in the seventh inning of the Brewers' victory.

The homer was Gomez's fourth of the year.

CF Carlos Gomez back at top of lineup for Brewers
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer

One day after a scary incident in which he was hit in the head with a fastball, Carlos Gomez is back in his familiar spot atop the Brewers lineup Monday as they prepare to face the Tigers at Comerica Park.

Gomez did not suffer a concussion, just a facial contusion, and so he will be back in center field for the Brewers. With the DH in play, Aramis Ramirez will give up his customary third base position to Elian Herrera

Milwaukee designated second baseman Scooter Gennett for assignment Monday, giving the second base job to the time being to Hector Gomez, who will hit eighth.

Brewers CF Carlos Gomez (facial bruise) could play Monday after HBP
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer

The Brewers' Carlos Gomez exited Sunday's game after taking a 97-mph fastball off the helmet, but after being diagnosed with just a facial contusion (no concussion), the centerfielder said he feels good and might play in Monday's game in Detroit, reports MLB.com.

"I think I could have stayed in the game today, but I have a history in the past of a couple concussions, and my manager didn't want to take a risk," Gomez said. "But everything is fine. I understand what's going on ... I got lucky."

Gomez was drilled in the left earflap by Mets starter Noah Syndergaard.
