  • Gomez avoids arbitration: The Brewers inked OF Carlos Gomez to a one-year deal worth approximately $2 million on Tuesday, according to FOXSports.com. Gomez, who still has one more year of arbitration left, avoided the process for the 2012 season with his new deal.

    Fantasy Analysis
Gomez started 59 games in center field last year, and he could wind up being the lesser half of a platoon with Nyjer Morgan again in 2012. Should the Brewers sign Norichika Aoki this offseason, however, Gomez's playing time will likely be reduced. Even in the best-case scenario, Gomez is merely a low-end option for owners in NL-only leagues.

  • October 13, 2011: Evaluation of starting Kotsay in center? Good hit, no field
Milwaukee sacrifices defense for offense by starting Mark Kotsay in center field. Kotsay homers -- and fails to reach a fly ball during St. Louis' four-run first inning. Scott Miller says Ron Roenicke is certain his decision was the right one.
October 12, 2011: Cards start fast, hold off Brewers for 2-1 NLCS lead
Albert Pujols hit an RBI double during a four-run first inning and the St. Louis bullpen bailed out Chris Carpenter as the Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 on Wednesday night for a 2-1 edge in the NL Championship Series.
October 11, 2011: Even for Pujols, Game 2 effort something to harp about
Is this the player St. Louis 'might' not re-sign? Albert Pujols goes nuts in Game 2 with a four-hit, 5-RBI effort to help tie the Brewers in the NLCS. Scott Miller says Milwaukee better find a way to tame the beast.
October 9, 2011: Once also-rans at Miller Park, Brewers now win to roaring crowds
It's tough when you're less popular than the Sausage Races, which is where the Brewers were in 2002. Scott Miller says now look at them, blasting past the Cards in Game 1 to the roars of a Milwaukee crowd.
October 8, 2011: Cards vs. Brewers in NLCS? Think Thrilla in Manila, baseball-style
Hatred. Animosity. Vitriol. Take 'em all, then multiply by 10 -- and that's only a fraction of the loathing between the Cards and the Brewers. Scott Miller says this NLCS may reprise the teams' 1982 World Series clash.
