Marlins third baseman Placido Polanco had a successful return to the starting lineup Sunday against the Cardinals. After missing four starts with lower back stiffness, Polanco went 3 for 4 with one run, one double and two RBI in his return Sunday.

He had come into Sunday without an RBI in his last 16 games (15 starts). In fact, Polanco had just one RBI in 37 games from April 23-June 15.

Polanco is hitting .227 with seven RBI in 207 at-bats. He has not started a game since Monday.

Polanco left Monday's game against the Brewers with the injury and has not played since. Polanco, who has just three hits in his last 21 at-bats, has lost some playing time to Ed Lucas. Lucas has started all but two of the last 10 games at third base. Polanco hit .227/.286/.256 with seven RBI in 207 at-bats before getting hurt.
