  • Pena fitting in at the top: Rays first baseman Carlos Pena has been a perfect fit for the leadoff spot since being moved there by manager Joe Maddon on Tuesday. He hit his second home run in three games at the top of the order on Friday against the Red Sox, while also picking up a walk and scoring two runs as the Rays defeated the Red Sox, 7-4. Pena went 1 for 4 with the walk and a strikeout, and he is now hitting .333 while getting on base seven times in three games in the top spot.

    Fantasy Analysis
Pena is a big first baseman who has not stolen more than seven bases in any season in his career, so he certainly is not what you think of when picturing a leadoff hitter, but Rays’ manager Joe Maddon is doing what he can to get him going right now. Pena is going to strike out a ton and will never hit for a high average, however he does know how to draw plenty of walks to get on base, which makes him a decent option for the spot in the lineup that sees the most plate appearances. He will see fewer opportunities to drive runs in at the top of the order, however Pena will get more plate appearances at the top of the order overall, so consider him a viable low-end Fantasy option moving forward.
