Rays' Hank Conger: Traded to Rays
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hank Conger was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations.

Conger appeared in 73 games last season, his lone campaign with the Astros. He does not figure to play every day for the Rays, but if he can come close to the .891 OPS he posted against right-handers last season, he would likely see a healthy number of at-bats.

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Astros catcher Hank Conger had a huge night at the plate in the 9-2 win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Conger went 3 for 4 with a pair of home runs, his first career multi-home run game of his career.

Conger feasted on the pitching of Jeremy Hellickson on Saturday. He launched a solo shot in the third inning, and then blasted his first-career grand slam in the fourth inning.

Conger now has eight home runs on the year, which represents a new career-high.

He has been sharing time behind the plate with Jason Castro. But Conger is 8 for 26 with three homers and eight RBI over his past eight games.
