Chris Tillman fails to factor into decision vs. Twins
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman was unable to factor into the decision Saturday night at home against the Twins. The right-hander permitted one run on six hits and three walks while striking out six over five innings of a 3-2 victory.

Tillman has allowed one earned run or fewer in each of his last three starts. He owns a 3.36 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP over 29 starts (176 2/3 innings). He will make his next start Thursday at home against Cincinnati.

Chris Tillman picks up a win
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman won his 11th game Monday against the Rays.

Tillman allowed one unearned run on three hits over seven innings. He struck out two and walked two during the outing. Tillman gave up his only run in the third inning. Tillman allowed a leadoff single to open the frame. The next batter should have resulted in an out, but a missed catch by the second baseman caused Jose Molina to reach on an error. Yunel Escobar was able to advance to third on the play. The next batter hit into a double play. While Tillman was able to pick up two outs, Escobar was able to score on the play. The run was not charged to Tillman due to the error.

With the win, Tillman improved to 11-5. He'll take on the Twins in his next start.

Chris Tillman becomes important hot-hand play
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

With the season winding down and no time but the present to make up ground in the standings, you may no longer be able to wait out the most talented players, trusting them to make a bigger impact in the long run. Instead, you may have to turn to a hot-hand play.

And at least at starting pitcher, there are few hands hotter than Chris Tillman right now.

In his last 14 starts -- or more than half his season so far -- he has a 2.31 ERA and 1.01 WHIP, and he's been consistently good throughout that stretch, throwing 12 quality starts. A reduced strikeout rate early on was reason for skepticism, but over his last five starts, he has averaged 8.3 strikeouts per nine innings.

Most encouraging of all, we've seen him go on a run like this before, finishing out last season with a 3.39 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings in 11 starts. Of course, that doesn't explain why he had a 5.20 ERA over 13 starts in between. He seems to have a little Matt Garza in him, looking like waiver fodder half the time and a Fantasy mainstay the other half.

Can you trust that Tillman has legitimately broken out this time? I wouldn't, but again, that's not the most pertinent question to ask this time of year. Can you trust him right now? I would.

Chris Tillman excellent against the White Sox
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman turned in an excellent start Tuesday against the White Sox.

Tillman allowed one run on three hits over eight innings. He struck out nine and walked one. The only blemish against Tillman was a solo home run by Jose Abreu in the first inning. Tillman would give up his two other hits in the second and third inning. He then tossed three perfect innings before walking Abreu in the bottom of the seventh. Tillman worked around the walk, and did not allow a hit over his last five innings.

With the win, Tillman improved to 10-5. He'll take on the Rays in his next start.

Orioles jumble weekend rotation
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

The Orioles have altered their weekend rotation, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Ubaldo Jimenez will be skipped the next time through, so the club had to make a few changes. Bud Norris will get the call Saturday. Miguel Gonzalez has not officially been announced for Sunday's game yet, but it looks like he'll receive the start. Chris Tillman will pitch Monday.
