Orioles' Chris Tillman rocked by Blue Jays in loss Thursday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman took the loss Thursday, giving up seven earned runs on five hits and five walks in 4 1/3 innings while striking out three in his team's 7-6 defeat against the Blue Jays.

Tillman (2-2) has alternated poor outings with excellent performances over his first four starts, and Thursday's dud was just the latest in the pattern. The Blue Jays were able to score three runs in each of the third and fourth innings before tacking on one more in the fifth, giving them all they needed to take the win.

Tillman owns a 7.58 ERA and 13:13 K:BB ratio in 19 innings. He's scheduled to face the White Sox Tuesday in his next start.

Orioles starter Chris Tillman allows one run in 5 1/3 IP for victory
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer

Orioles starter Chris Tillman (2-1) allowed one earned run on six hits and stuck out five in 5 1/3 innings Saturday to earn the win against the Red Sox.

The one run allowed came via Tillman's fielding error in the sixth inning.

Tillman rebounded from a poor start in his last outing.

"I wanted to get back out there. It felt like an eternity between starts," Tillman said. "After starts like that, it's not fun."

"I thought he had good stuff," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "I think he was challenged by things out of his control."

Tillman's next start is set for Thursday in Toronto.

Not starting Mookie Betts Saturday no reflection of recent slump
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer

Mookie Betts' recent 0-for-7 slide isn't the reason Red Sox manager John Farrell didn't start him Saturday against the Orioles, reports WEEI.com.

With the O's starting right-hander Chris Tillman, who's considered tough with a heavy sinker, Farrell wants to get utility-man Brock Holt some at-bats.

"A way to get Brock in the lineup," Farrell said. "He has swung the bat well in limited looks against Tillman and our goal, and my personal goal, is to get Brock [in the lineup] and keep him in the mix as much as possible."

Duquette: Orioles have 'tabled' contract talks with Chris Tillman
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Orioles executive vice president Dan Duqutte confirmed during a radio interview Sunday night the team has "tabled" contract talks with starting pitcher Chris Tillman, who won't be a free agent until after the 2017 season.

Duquette said the team prefers not to engage in contract talks during the season, but added there is always the opportunity they could resume negotiations. Although, Duquette said if that does happen, he won't talk about it.

"Well, we had a good discussion with Chris about his contract for this season," Duquette said, per MASNsports.com. "He got a nice raise based on the work that he did and we have a good idea about what his long-term aspirations are, so I thought that was real helpful. We are real glad to have Chris out there pitching for us.

"Since Chris has come back up to the big leagues in the second half of 2012, he's been one of the more dependable pitchers in the American League. He's done a nice job for us. He's quietly become a solid, dependable starting pitcher and a leader on our ballclub."

Orioles' Chris Tillman chased in third inning vs. Blue Jays
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman couldn't make it out of the third inning in a loss Sunday, surrendering seven runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings while striking out one in his team's 10-7 defeat against the Blue Jays.

Tillman (1-1) delivered a solid performance in his debut but couldn't find his rhythm Sunday, as the Blue Jays were able to score runs in each of the three innings he worked. He served up home runs to a pair of players that entered Sunday's game with just six career homers combined (Dalton Pompey and Kevin Pillar).

Tillman will focus on rebounding Saturday against the Red Sox in Boston.
