Twins give slumping Torii Hunter the day off vs. White Sox
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Twins right fielder Torii Hunter was given the day off Saturday against White Sox starter Jeff Samardzija. Shane Robinson took his place in the lineup and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Hunter is off to a 2-for-16 start this season, and manager Paul Molitor acknowledged that he'll look to keep him fresh throughout the season, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Outside of an injury-riddled 2009 campaign, Hunter has played at least 140 games every year since the start of 2006.

"I don't really have a set number in mind," Molitor said. "Hopefully his health is good throughout the year and we can keep him fresh by giving him a blow here and there. Whether it's 125, 135, 140 (games), I can't really tell you a number right now. We're just going to see how he goes and how we go and how he's feeling."

Twins could use trio of Schafer, Robinson, Escobar at CF
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Twins manager Paul Molitor told reporters that he'll use a blend of Jordan Schafer and Shane Robinson at center field, but wouldn't describe the position as a straight platoon, according to the Star Tribune. With Danny Santana named the starting shortstop, Molitor added that Eduardo Escobar would also see some time in the outfield.

Twins' Molitor likes what he has in OF Shane Robinson
by Dave Peters | CBSSports.com

Twins manager Paul Molitor is impressed with what the team has in outfielder Shane Robinson , according to twincities.com.

"Robinson's been great for me," the Twins' manager said Thursday. "He's very much into the game, whether he's playing or not. He's always watching, making observations. He does the fundamental things very well: base running, defense, takes a good at-bat."

Robinson is currently tied for the team-lead in doubles this spring with four. He has been batting second and playing center.

Molitor also points out that Robinson has been better against left-handed pitchers as opposed to right-handers.

"I think he takes good at-bats against right-handers," Molitor said, "but obviously the left-hand thing is probably a little better thing for him."

After spending nine years with the Cardinals, the 30-year-old is batting .276 with four doubles on nine hits this spring.

Twins' Molitor not yet ready to name starting center fielder
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Twins manager Paul Molitor said Thursday the team is not ready to make a decision yet on who will be the starting center fielder, per the Pioneer Press.

Jordan Schafer, Aaron Hicks, Shane Robinson and Eddie Rosario are considered the leading candidates for the job, but Molitor indicated Thursday that Rosario and Hicks would have to play regularly to stay in the majors.

"I haven't made up my mind on how that's going to play," Molitor said. "Aaron (Hicks) knows that. I think (Jordan) Schafer and (Shane) Robinson and Eddie all know. They're out there playing. They have reason and motivation to play as well as they can. We don't have to make a decision yet. We've got a little time."
