| Russell touched for first run: Cubs relief pitcher James Russell (1-0) permitted a run and two hits in 2/3 of an inning but still managed his second hold of the season during Chicago's 5-4 victory over the Dodgers on Friday. Russell was the first pitcher used out of the bullpen when he relieved Paul Maholm in the seventh inning. The one represented the first he has allowed this season as his ERA grew slightly to 1.08 after 10 games. (Updated 05/04/2012) |

| Cubs manager Dale Sveum announced he had decided to try a committee of relievers in the closer spot, making the move one day after Carlos Marmol blew a save opportunity in a loss to Cincinnati. For now, Russell will share closing duties with Rafael Dolis, who recorded the save Friday. Fantasy owners in deeper formats should consider adding Russell, but he remains a low-end option because of the timeshare. (Updated 05/04/2012). |
