Matt Holliday homers twice, totals five RBI in 13-2 rout
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

After going 0 for 4 in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Cardinals veteran outfielder Matt Holliday bounced back in a big way in the second game, homering twice in a 13-2 rout. Holliday finished 2 for 3 with five RBI and one walk in the win.

Holliday gave St. Louis a 4-1 lead when he hit a three-run homer off Tsuyoshi Wada in the bottom of the fifth inning. He then led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run. Holliday got up again during a nine-run eighth inning and tallied his last RBI on a bases-loaded hit by pitch with still no outs in the inning.

Matt Holliday's struggles appear to be related to knee injury
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday, who entered play Sunday mired in a 0-for-19 slump, received a day off against the Padres. Manager Mike Matheny feels Holliday's struggles are related to his left knee problems.

"I think they're interrelated," manager Mike Matheny said of Holliday's knee troubles and results, per MLB.com. "He's trying to grind for us because we need everyone to grind for us right now. He's feeling it. You can tell by some of his movements."
