Cardinals OF Matt Holliday battles through to stay productive
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer

Outfielder Matt Holliday has been a steadying force in a Cardinals' lineup hit with injuries both major and minor, and the veteran credits his durability to finding the right physical and mental balance, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Holliday is hitting .328 with 21 RBIs in 35 games this season, reaching base at least once in every one of them.

"I think that's something to be there and to be on the field and to be available to your manager every single day," Holliday said. "There are times during a season when if you don't keep a proper perspective and you don't continue to remind yourself things can get out of whack. Things can get heavy. I think sometimes the mental part of it as much as the physical part can create that heaviness, especially if you’re not careful keeping perspective."
