  • Ellis gets some bad news: Dodgers infielder Mark Ellis was allowed to leave the hospital on Thursday, but he received some unfortunate news on Friday that will push his recovery time back a few weeks. An MRI revealed a sprained medial collateral ligament in the left leg he recently had operated on, according to MLB.com. While further surgery is not being considered currently on the knee, he is expected to be out up to two months as a result of this newly-discovered injury. "There are a lot of factors here, and it's not like this is a common, everyday baseball injury that we see all the time,” Dodgers trainer Sue Falsone told MLB.com. “These are best estimates we can give based on tissue healing times. But every person is different so we are going to see how it goes." The injury is just adding on top of the previously known injuries from when he took a hard slide from Cardinals infielder Tyler Greene. Both the knee sprain and the wound, which needed to be drained through emergency surgery to release pressure, will need to heal before he can begin to put weight on the leg and start rehabbing.

    Injury Report
Leg - 15-day DL. Out until at least late July

    Fantasy Analysis
He was expected to begin rehabilitation shortly after leaving the hospital, but this obviously changes the timeline. He is now expected to be out until the end of July, although there did not seem to be much confidence in that diagnosis, given the nature of the injury. He was hitting .273 before the injury, and is worth stashing in deeper NL-only formats, however it looks like it will be a while before we see him again.
