Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman tied a season-high with three hits Sunday against the Tigers. It was the third time he had three hits this season.

Berkman has multiple hits in three-straight games and five times in his last nine games. He also has two RBI in four of his last eight games. Berkman is batting .351 (13 for 37) with a triple, home run, two doubles, five walks, five runs and 10 RBI in his last nine games.

Berkman only had one hit during the game, but made it count. In the first inning, Berkman hit a double, scoring two runs. He's had a nice start to the season after an injury-riddled 2012. Through 104 at-bats, Berkman is hitting .298/.425/.471.

The Rangers have been using Lance Berkman exclusively as a designated hitter this season, with the intention of keeping the 37-year-old healthy and off the disabled list. He has started 26 of the team's 29 games in American League parks, and has been mostly productive, batting .297 with 15 RBI. Fantasy owners want to keep him active when it looks like he will be in the lineup consistently.

With the Rangers set to play seven times in AL parks in Week 7 (May 13-19), Berkman should have no impediment to getting in the lineup, as Scott White notes in his Hit Parade column. The team might give him a day or two off to keep him fresh, but there is no risk of a prolonged absence from the lineup, so Fantasy owners should feel comfortable getting Berkman active this week.
