Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer returned to action in a big way as he launched his eighth home run of the season Friday night against the Giants.

Cuddyer doubled in two runs in the first and took starter Tim Lincecum deep for a solo home run in the sixth inning. He finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBI in a 5-0 win.

Cuddyer has recorded a hit in each of his last four games. He is hitting .438 (7 for 16) with two home runs and four RBI over that span.

Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer is in the starting lineup Friday against the Giants after being activated from the 15-day disabled list. Cuddyer was out with a bulging disk in his neck.

He had 15 plate appearances in two days at extended spring training and should be up to speed after facing Angels starter Jered Weaver in his own rehab start, according to the Denver Post.

Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer was activated, as expected, for Friday's game against the Giants. Cuddyer had been on the disabled list since May 11 with a bulging disk in his neck.

Cuddyer will be available for the game, but it is not yet clear whether he will be in the starting lineup. 

The Rockies appeared to clear space on the active roster for Michael Cuddyer's activation from the disabled list Wednesday, as they optioned infielder Josh Rutledge to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Cuddyer is recovering from an inflamed disk in his neck but should be in the starting lineup Friday against the Giants. 

Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer will fly to Arizona Monday, the Denver Post reports. Cuddyer is expected to play in two extended spring training games. 

Cuddyer should be ready to start for the Rockies on Friday in San Francisco if all goes well. 

The outfielder has been dealing with an inflamed disk in his neck and was only cleared to begin baseball activities on Saturday.
