Reds LF Marlon Byrd hits solo home run in first game back
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Fresh off the disabled list, Reds left fielder Marlon Byrd made his presence felt in his first game back on Friday. Byrd belted a solo home run off starter Dan Haren, his 11th of the season, to give the Reds a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.

"He was able to stay on a ball out over the plate," Reds manager Bryan Price said, per MLB.com. "[Haren] was kind of back and forth with the sinker-cutter mix, and [Byrd] was able to stay on one that got up out over the plate and he was able to handle it out to right-center."

It was Byrd's only hit of the game. He now has a modest four-game hitting streak, dating back to June 2, his last game before hitting the DL with a wrist fracture.
