Jeremy Guthrie's stats now thoroughly corrected
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

Have you looked at Jeremy Guthrie's stats recently? Though clearly one of this season's biggest overachievers just a couple of starts ago, he now has a 3.49 ERA and 1.37 WHIP -- numbers that are well within the realm of possibility for Guthrie, judging by his earlier days with the Orioles.

Just like that, his numbers have corrected themselves. In fact, they might even be due for a correction the other way. Having surrendered seven home runs in his last three starts, he's on pace to give up 51 this season. Granted, he's no stranger to the long ball, but that's just ridiculous.

Taking the good with the bad, if you like what the Royals right-hander has delivered to date, you should stick with him in Fantasy. He has more good starts ahead, just like he has more bad starts ahead.

Jeremy Guthrie with back-to-back poor efforts
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com

After starting the season with a 5-0 record and a 2.28 ERA after his first seven starts, Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie has fallen apart a bit.

Guthrie suffered his second straight loss Monday in Houston, as he was hit hard by the Astros. The starter, who is now 5-2 with a 3.49 ERA, gave up six earned runs on eight hits and three walks over five innings and 96 pitches. He struck out two.

Guthrie gave up two homers Monday and has surrendered six long balls in his last two starts, both losses. He's given up 11 runs on 19 hits and six walks over 12 innings during the two-game losing streak.

Guthrie will look to bounce back when he takes the mound Saturday against the Angels.

Jeremy Guthrie serves up four homers
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie had a hard time keeping the ball in the park as he served up four homers and dropped his first decision of the year Tuesday night against the Angels.

Guthrie (5-1) surrendered solo homers to Albert Pujols, Howie Kendrick, Josh Hamilton and Mike Trout, which accounted for most of his damage. The right-hander was charged with five runs and 11 hits over seven innings of work. He walked three and did not strike out a hitter in a 6-2 defeat.

Despite Tuesday's performance, Guthrie has struck out six and allowed six runs in his last 22 innings of work. He is scheduled to make his next start Monday at Houston. He surrendered five runs over seven innings in his previous meeting with the Astros in 2012 as a member of the Rockies.

Critics starting to come around on Jeremy Guthrie
by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com

One of the more surprising names on the list of pitchers putting up the most Fantasy points is Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie. His strong start has him in the company of Matt Moore, Justin Verlander and even ahead of Adam Wainwright in terms of Fantasy production.

Scott White said on Friday’s broadcast of Fantasy Baseball Today, that he’s starting to see what host Adam Aizer has been raving about all season, adding that he’s to the point where it would depend on who he would have to drop to grab Guthrie.

Jeremy Guthrie remains unbeaten
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

Royals starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie's impressive start continued Thursday against the Orioles, as he won his fifth game in a row with another quality start.

Guthrie fell behind briefly in the second inning, as the Orioles scored an unearned run due to a throwing error by shortstop Alcides Escobar. Other than that, he allowed just one solo home run over six strong innings of work, scattering seven hits and three walks in a 6-2 win.

Guthrie struck out three batters on 100 pitches, 63 of them for strikes. He lowered his ERA to 2.28, while improving his record to 5-0 through seven starts. Guthrie has five quality starts.

Guthrie will try to keep the good times rolling in his next start, scheduled for Thursday against the Angels.
