Over his first 24 games this year, the Blue Jays' Jose Bautista hit .207. Over his last 16 games, he's hitting .370.

Yet I'm sure if he gets off to another slow start next year, as he did this year and last year, we'll again hear tales of want and worry, of him wrecking one's draft and killing one's Fantasy team. Such is the nature of things.

Maybe hundreds of years from now, when mankind has taken on a reptilian form and migrated to the moon on unobtainium shuttles funded by the altruism of our utopian society, we'll have grown comfortable with the ways of Bautista and those like him. But by then, he'll have long retired, and those same fears will have manifested for the premier slugger of that time, Gjyek P'tan.

Such is the nature of things.

Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista went 4 for 4 with two homers and four RBI Wednesday against Tampa Bay. His RBI single in the bottom of the 10th won the game after his solo homer in the ninth tied it and sent it to extras. He added an RBI single in the first inning and also homered in the fourth off starter Jeremy Hellickson.

Bautista, who has 11 homers and 27 RBI, added a walk and is batting .275. The 32-year-old has four homers in his last eight games, though they have come in two multi-HR efforts.

Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista had a solid game on Wednesday during an 11-3 drubbing of the Giants. Bautista went 2 for 5 with two RBI. 

The outfielder drove in a run in the second inning with an RBI single to center. He added an RBI double in the third. Bautista scored twice and is batting .262. 

Bautista has recorded two hits in four straight games and is 8 for 15 (.533) over that stretch with two homers, seven runs and five RBI. He's up to nine homers and 22 RBI with 23 runs. 

Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista had his 18th career multi-homer game in Sunday's 12-4 win over the Red Sox. Bautista's first home run was a solo shot off Ryan Dempster leading off the third inning and he added a two-run shot off Clayton Mortensen in the sixth.

Bautista, who has nine homers, scored three times and walked once. Bautista is batting .295 (18 for 61) with five home runs, five doubles and 12 RBI in his last 18 games.

Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista took a turn batting second on Saturday in Boston. Bautista went 0 for 3 Friday to lower his average to .224. 

Bautista, who has seven homers and 17 RBI, but also has struck out 25 times over 107 at-bats, entered Saturday's game with 320 career at-bats in the No. 2 spot. That is his fourth-most frequent spot in the batting order, but he hasn't hit that high since 2010.
