Rickie Weeks returns to the lineup
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com

Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks returns to the lineup Sunday after three straight games on the bench, the club announced.

Weeks has been on fire over his last 15 games, as he owns a .366/.435/.610 line with two home runs. His OPS has risen a full 100 points to .648. The next question is if he can break out of his current platoon with left-handed rookie Scooter Gennett. Sunday's opposing starter, Johnny Cueto, is right-handed, so the platoon doesn't appear to be a strict one at this point.

Rickie Weeks remains on bench

Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks has not played since June 12 at Miami and he wasn't in the lineup Saturday at Cincinnati, either.

Weeks is sitting in favor of Scooter Gennett, who is playing well for the Brewers. Weeks is batting just .211 on the season with five homers and 13 RBI over 199 at-bats.

That said, Weeks has gone 10 for 24 (.417) in June with two of his homers and three of his RBI.

Rickie Weeks heading in the right direction

Few players tested Fantasy owners’ patience like Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks over the first quarter of the season. But a strong showing so far in June has some thinking Weeks may have finally figured things out.

Nando Di Fino explained on Tuesday’s broadcast of Fantasy Baseball Today how he viewed Weeks’ recent platoon as a “motivational tactic” that seems to have led to more production. He also answered whether he would rather have Weeks or Nick Franklin.

Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks got his batting average over the Mendoza line for the first time since April 19 with a three-hit game Monday against the Marlins.

Weeks went 3 for 5 with a solo home run, which accounted for his lone RBI and run scored, in a 6-1 win.

Weeks is hitting .209 but has a .429 batting average with two home runs and three RBI in eight June games.
