Angels starter C.J. Wilson was outdueled by opposing starter Chris Sale for the second consecutive start Friday night against the White Sox.

Wilson, who made his ninth start of the season, surrendered a solo home run to Alex Rios in the first and a run-scoring single to Conor Gillaspie in the seventh for his only damage of the night. He was charged with two runs and six hits over seven innings of work as he suffered his third loss of the season. He struck out three and walked two in a 3-0 defeat.

Wilson is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday at home against the Mariners. He allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings of work in his last start against Seattle on April 26.

Wilson was dominant early, but faltered late into his outing. He pitched six scoreless innings before allowing three runs in the seventh, including a two-run single to Alexei Ramirez that broke a scoreless game. The left-hander was charged with three runs and six hits over 6 2/3 innings of work as he suffered his second loss of the season. He walked four and struck out three in 107 pitches, 63 strikes.

Wilson (3-2) has allowed three runs or fewer in all but one of his eight starts this season. He has a 3.88 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP in that span. The 32-year-old will get another crack at the White Sox in his next start at home Friday. He is 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA in three starts at home.

Angels starter C.J. Wilson mowed down 12 Astros batters in Houston Tuesday night. Unfortunately, he still suffered the loss to fall to 3-1 on the year. 

Wilson suffered his first defeat as only two of the seven runs he gave up were allowed with Hank Conger making three errors in the field. Wilson allowed seven hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings and was hurt by two long balls. Jose Altuve went deep off him in the first inning and Chris Carter smashed a three-run blast in the third. 

Wilson, who needed 114 pitches and threw 79 for strikes, had won two straight starts entering Tuesday. His ERA remains solid at 3.86 and he should be able to bounce back nicely. Wilson has 44 Ks over 42 innings and next starts Sunday in Chicago.
