Responding to an Internet report in which someone overheard him saying he wanted out of Chicago and a fresh start, Cubs reliever Carlos Marmol refuted that claim on Wednesday.

"I don’t know who that guy is and why he tweeted that," Marmol told MLB.com.

The right-hander admitted that he met with his agent, Paul Kinzer, on Wednesday but said the two did not discuss leaving Chicago.

"I'm not going nowhere," Marmol said. "I’m very happy here. I can’t wait until they do something so I can stay here. I always talk about how I love Chicago, I love being here, I love my teammates, I love everybody here."

Cubs relief pitcher Carlos Marmol pitched a scoreless inning of relief during Sunday's series finale against the Reds.

Marmol, who relieved Edwin Jackson in the sixth, needed just 11 pitches to retire the side in order. He struck out one during the 7-4 loss.

Marmol, who allowed three runs without recording an out the previous night, is just happy to be back on the mound.

"I'm glad he gave me the ball," Marmol said of manger Dale Sveum. "It didn't matter what inning. I told him I want to pitch, no matter what. He gave me the ball. He trusts me and I went out there and had a good inning today."

Carlos Marmol's milestone appearance Saturday was painfully similar to the performances the Cubs reliever has turned in recently. Marmol appeared in his 453rd game with Chicago to move past Lee Smith for the franchise record, but allowed three runs in the eighth inning without getting an out in a 6-4 loss to Cincinnati.

The hard-throwing righty replaced James Russell to begin the inning and walked the first two batters he faced before plunking Brandon Phillips with a pitch to load the bases. Hector Rondon then took over, allowing all three inherited runners to score and Marmol was pinned with his second loss of the season while his ERA swelled to 6.17. He had posted 10 consecutive scoreless appearances before Saturday.

"I feel very good and that's it," Marmol said. "I didn't throw strikes today. That's what happened."
