Stephen Drew OK after back issue
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com

Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew was dealing with a back issue on Friday in Minnesota, but should be able to play Saturday, WEEI.com reports.

Drew went 1 for 3 on Friday and is batting .238. His lone hit was a double and he walked twice.

Stephen Drew is a monster in May
by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer

Through his first 29 games, Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew is hitting .245 with three home runs, 18 RBI and a steal. But in 13 games this month, Drew is hitting .348 with a 1.024 OPS. All three of his homers have come in May.

Drew had a slow start after an early March beaning (and ensuing concussion) stalled his spring training. It's within reason to believe that April was basically Drew shaking off rust and getting up to speed with the rest of the league. What we're seeing in May isn't the Drew we should expect all year, but he should play closer to that level than to April's.

Fenway Park made stars out of Cody Ross, Bill Mueller, Mark Bellhorn among others, but had been almost forgotten by the time they reached the Red Sox. Drew could follow in those footsteps, putting up a .280 average and 20 home runs from a weak Fantasy position, and justifying a large leap in his 36 percent ownership.

Stephen Drew hits second career grand slam
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com

Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew connected for his second career grand slam on Wednesday during a 9-2 rout of the Tampa Bay Rays. Drew capped an eight-run third inning for the Red Sox with his blast after David Price was injured earlier in the inning.

Batting ninth, Drew's grand slam was his third homer of the season. He added a double to go 2 for 3 with a walk in the performance with four RBI and two runs. Drew's brother, J.D. Drew, also has hit a grand slam in his career with Boston.

Drew is batting .245 after Wednesday's effort. He has nine RBI in his last nine games and is up to three homers and 18 RBI after getting off to a late start due to injury.

Stephen Drew the hero for Red Sox
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com

Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew had a big game and an even bigger at-bat in the 11th inning to send Boston home winners over the Twins Monday.

Drew's RBI single off the Green Monster in the 11th gave the Red Sox a 6-5 walk-off victory. It was his third RBI on the night.

Drew also had a solo homer in the seventh inning. He went 4 for 5 with three RBI to raise his average to .225.

Drew has gone 8 for 19 (.421) over his last five games with two homers and six RBI.
