Yankees want Stephen Drew to learn utility role
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

With infielder Robert Refsnyder receiving a larger role at second base recently, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he would like for Stephen Drew to learn other positions, reports The Journal News.

"We want him to be able to play all three positions, second, short and third," Girardi said. "We've asked our middle infielders to be able to do that if you want to give Headley a day off, if you want to give Didi a day off, obviously he’s going to play some second as well. Those sort of things. He's prepared to go in anywhere."

Girardi maintains that which player will start at second base is a day-to-day decision. Drew is hitting .182 in 79 games this season.
