Yankees starter Phil Hughes was expected to get the ball for a start Tuesday against the Dodgers, but the game was postponed due to rain. 

Hughes will be pushed back to start in the teams' Wednesday day-night doubleheader. The rest of the New York rotation will remain in turn. Hughes will pitch the nightcap with Hiroki Kuroda pitching the day game, the New York Daily News reports. 

Hughes has gone 3-5 this season with a 4.89 ERA. He's failed to finish five innings in two of his last three starts, but has a win in which he went seven innings and allowed only an unearned run mixed in between. 

Yankees starter Phil Hughes had little command Wednesday night in Oakland, needing 95 pitches to 4 1/3 innings of a 5-2 loss.

Hughes (3-5) allowed four hits, including a two-run homer to Brandon Moss in the second inning. He gave up three runs with five walks with three strikeouts. Hughes' ERA is 4.89.

The 26-year-old continues to be inconsistent. In his previous start, he pitched seven shutout innings in a win at Seattle. That came after allowing five runs in 4 1/3 innings in a loss.

Hughes' next start will be Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Hughes (3-4) surrendered just three hits and two walks while striking out seven in seven scoreless innings in a 6-1 win.

Hughes picked up his first win since May 10. He has allowed six runs combined in his last three starts (18 1/3 innings). He is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday at Oakland. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 3.44 ERA in six starts away from Yankee Stadium.
