VIDEO: Advertisement to change Bobcats back to Hornets

By Matt Moore | NBA writer

Could the Charlotte franchise reclaim the Hornets moniker after New Orleans ditched it for the wholly less intimidating Pelicans? A new ad is pushing that very idea.

Simple. To the point. Effective.

As much as the city turned on the franchise before the relocation because of their disdain for former owner George Shinn, enough time has passed that this may be a good move. Future ads should incorporate more and more of Hornets lore, like Alonzo Mourning's game-winner over the Celtics in the playoffs, or Larry Johnson in drag. Maybe some Mugsy Bogues business.

The Bobcats and the NBA are exploring the idea, and it really only makes sense. The Charlotte franchise was named such after Bob Johnson, the former owner, who sold to Michael Jordan years ago. The Hornets belong in Charlotte. We'll see if they return and the Bobcats can head elsewhere.

Though we would be sad to see Rufus the mascot go.
