2014 lottery pick Dario Saric officially signs with Sixers
The wait is finally over for Philadelphia
After two years of waiting, it's official: Dario Saric signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. The Croatian forward was the No. 12 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, and he's spent the last couple of seasons playing for Anadolu Efes in Istanbul, Turkey.

"We are thrilled to finally announce the highly anticipated signing of Dario Saric to an NBA player contract with the Philadelphia 76ers," Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo said in a statement. "Our basketball team stands to benefit from both the on-court development and physical maturation of Dario as a professional player in Croatia and Turkey over the last few years."
As Sam Vecenie wrote for CBS Sports back in March, Saric has grown since being drafted and should be an effective playmaking 4 right away. The 22-year-old sacrificed money and stuck to his word by coming to Philadelphia now rather than staying in Europe for another season, and the Sixers are lucky that he did so.
The difference between March and now is that the Sixers have since added another playmaking 4, and his name is Ben Simmons. Saric and Simmons can play together, but it no longer seems like they can simply slide Saric into the starting power forward slot. Philadelphia has a glut of young players who are best as power forwards or centers, and it's unclear if Colangelo will be able to balance the roster before the start of the season.
As far as problems go, having too much frontcourt talent is a pretty good one. The organization is undoubtedly thrilled to have Saric aboard, and coach Brett Brown will find a way to get him minutes.
