Chances are, every basketball fan you know watched Game 7 between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. You probably know people who don't even care about basketball and ended up tuning in. The deciding game of the Western Conference finals was the highest-rated game in cable television history and the most-watched game -- broadcast or cable -- since the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers faced off in the same situation 16 years ago, per Turner Sports.

An average of 15.9 million viewers watched throughout, and viewership peaked with 19.9 million total viewers. That night's episode of TNT's Inside The NBA was the show's "highest overnight delivery ever," per Turner Sports. The show has been on the air since 1989.

It turns out that people really want to see some of the best players in the world compete with their seasons on the line. Who knew?
