Curry congratulates Cam Newton on MVP, offers advice to Panthers QB
Stephen Curry gives some advice to Cam Newton before the Panthers take on the Broncos in Super Bowl 50.
After the Carolina Panthers punched their ticket to Super Bowl 50 by winning the NFC Championship, Stephen Curry predicted that he personally will have a great 48 hours during the weekend of the big game. Curry believed that the Golden State Warriors would beat the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday and that the Panthers would defeat the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl on Sunday. Twenty-four hours into Super Bowl weekend and half of Curry's prediction has come true as the Warriors held off the Thunder to win 116-108.
The weekend got even sweeter for Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who was named the NFL's regular-season MVP. Curry congratulated Newton for winning the award while offering up some advice on how win on Sunday.
From a Bleacher Report interview with Curry:
"Congratulations on all the success so far but the job isn't done. Enjoy the experience of playing in the Super Bowl. Having played in NBA championships, it's an unforgettable experience and something that you want to be able to enjoy and embrace. But just be yourself, the same Cam, the same Panthers that got you to that point and get it done. Keep pounding, i'm rooting for you."
Having grown up in Charlotte, Curry is a huge fan of the Panthers and shows off his team pride whenever he gets a chance. He got to beat the Keep Pounding drum at a Panthers game this season, practiced in a Newton jersey and was quite animated after Carolina advanced to the Super Bowl. Curry will even be cheering for Newton and the Panthers in person on Sunday as according Marcus Thompson of the San Jose Mercury News, the Warriors guard has six tickets and access to the Under Armour suite at the big game.
