Heading into Friday night's Game 3 against the Bulls, the Celtics were facing a situation they didn't expect to be in yet again. For the third year in a row, they were down 2-0 after the first two games of a first-round playoff series.

Needing a big win in Chicago, the team got a familiar source of inspiration: Kevin Garnett.

Though the retired power forward only played six seasons in Boston, he'll forever be connected with the franchise for bringing them the 2008 title. According to Avery Bradley, that connection lead Garnett to send an inspirational message to a staff member. That then made its way to Isaiah Thomas, who made the decision to play it for the team before the game.

Bradley, via Mass Live:

It kinda energized us for the game, and reminded us of what we're playing for, and what Celtics stand for. So we appreciate him for sending that message for us. Everybody was kinda pumped up, hyped. I almost felt like he was in the locker room with me again, so that was a good feeling.

It's funny, because he was our leader when he was here, and he's still part of the Celtics family. And for him to go out of his way to send us a message like that it means a lot to all of us. Like I said, it was a reminder of Celtic family. We have to play a certain way, because they are watching. And we want them to respect the way we play.

KG is no stranger to emotional and inspiration soliloquies, but it's still pretty cool that he took the time to do this for the Celtics. And as it turned out, it worked, as the Celtics came away with a 104-87 victory.

I also desperately want to hear that message. I'm sure uncensored KG is absolutely incredible.
