Although the New York Knicks selected 18-year-old French point guard Frank Ntilikina in the 2017 NBA Draft, the team is still looking for a stop-gap floor general veteran to teach the youngster the ropes -- and Rajon Rondo could be a viable option.

According to the New York Daily News, the Knicks have reached out to Rondo, who became a free agent after being waived by the Chicago Bulls. The parties have not scheduled a meeting.

Rondo averaged 7.8 points and 6.7 assists per game last season for the Bulls and led Chicago to surprising consecutive wins over the 1-seed Celtics in the playoffs before a thumb injury sidelined him and doomed Chicago's chances for a first-round upset.

The 31-year-old is far removed from his glory days when he led Boston to an NBA championship, but his ability to make plays and distribute the ball is still a valuable commodity in the NBA -- and one that might land him a starting job in a place like New York as the Knicks usher in a new era at the position.
