NBA Playoffs 2017: Ex-Celtics star Rajon Rondo not upset by boos from Boston fans
Rondo played in Boston for nine seasons
Rajon Rondo was once a fan favorite in the TD Garden, drawing raucous ovations time and again -- especially for iconic moments like his diving steal back in 2010.
But now, Rondo gets ready in the visiting locker room when he comes to Boston, and that means boos when he's out on the floor, as he experienced during Game 1 of the Bulls' first-round series against the No. 1 seeded Boston Celtics.
The unique point guard doesn't mind the jeers, however, saying that fans have been great to him off the floor, and he wouldn't expect anything less once the game starts. Via ESPN:
"These fans are great," Rondo said before Tuesday's shootaround. "I wouldn't expect anything else. A couple nice words were said when I walked out of the tunnel, but that's Boston. They've been doing that for me for nine years while I was here so I don't expect it [another way]."
"I've been walking the streets the last couple of days," he said. "It's a pretty good welcoming back -- [people ask] for autographs and pictures, so they have to boo me [later]. Obviously I've got on a red jersey, so it's part of it."
That ... seems like a very rational way of looking at this situation.
