LL Cool J once rapped, "Deepest, bluest, my hat is like a shark's fin," for the title song on the soundtrack of the hit movie Deep Blue Sea. If that's true and his hat is like a shark's fin, then his hat is probably scared of Cleveland Cavaliers free agent J.R. Smith. The NBA champion gunner is as respected by his teammate LeBron James as anybody in the league. While on the Open Run podcast on the Uninterrupted Podcast Network, LeBron was asked what kind of a animal J.R. would be.

That's when LeBron quickly came to the conclusion that Smith is a dolphin because he's a killer and sharks are afraid of him. He said much like dolphins, Smith needed a group around him to become the best of his abilities and he's incredibly smart. That makes sense when Smith was such an integral part of the Cavs' championship run back in June as they came back from a 3-1 deficit to topple the Golden State Warriors. Via SLAM:

The hosts, Jesse Williams (yes, that Jesse Williams) and Stefan Marolachakis, asked LeBron, "If JR Smith were an animal, what animal would he be?"

LeBron responded by laughing, before answering with, "I only got 5 seconds, this isn't fair? What comes to mind?...I don't know man, JR is like a dolphin, man...You know why? I watch a lot of these... what is it called, Open Water? Or National Geographic, and dolphins like, they're really killers. Sharks are afraid of them. But, they gotta have a a group around them to become the best of their ability... And incredibly smart."

Remember when Nick Young said he was scared of dolphins? Does this mean he's scared of J.R. Smith?

Young said a dolphin once tried to kill him. I'm pretty sure we'd know if Smith once threatened or endangered the life of the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard, but maybe that's why we've also never seen the two of them really get into it. It's either the bond of chucking ill-advised shots that keeps them happy when they're around each other or it's the unending fear Young has that Smith may turn on him like a dolphin once tried to do and live up to the scouting report LeBron gave for the sea mammals.
