Report: Kings moving on from Rajon Rondo, content with Darren Collison
Collison's future could be up in the air with misdemeanor domestic violence charges pending
The Sacramento Kings and Rajon Rondo spent one season together. It was a roller coaster of a season with in-team angst and problems between players and the head coach George Karl. And while Rondo may not have been a big problem for the Kings for much of the campaign, he also never seemed to be the solution either. So even with their other point guard Darren Collison in the middle of some legal trouble, the Kings will apparently not be looking at a second season with Rondo.
David Aldridge is reporting the Kings are comfortable with Collison as their starting point guard and will move on from Rondo at the position. They paid Rondo $10 million last season on a one-year deal.
Kings, moving on from Rajon Rondo, are comfortable with Darren Collison as their starter next season, I'm told. Will look for backup PG.

Rondo's individual numbers look good. He shot 45.4 percent from the field. He made a career high in number of 3-pointers and percentage of 3-pointers. He led the league in assists per game (11.7) and gave the Kings 11.9 points to go with them. He also put up 6 rebounds and 2 steals per game. These are all impressive individual numbers. However, his impact on the team was a net negative.
Despite creating so many assists for his teammates, Rondo's impact on the offense was almost unseen. Their offensive efficiency ticked up just 0.1 points per 100 possessions with him on the court. The defense, however, fell by 1.4 points. They were a minus-2.2 per 100 possessions with him on the bench and a minus-3.4 with him on the floor. His numbers did little to do anything other than make his individual side of it look good. Some of that is the team being bad and full of turmoil. Some of that was his poor defense and lazy gambling on that end of the floor.
The concern with trusting Collison though is he has two misdemeanor charges of domestic violence against him stemming from late May at his home. If the legal process finds him guilty, the Kings could then find themselves in a position where they don't have a solution at the point guard position at all. There is still a lot up in the air with them at this time.
