Curry on LeBron's MVP comments: 'I've gotten good at ignoring people'
Steph is paying no mind to LeBron's MVP comments
LeBron James is right. It can be hard to determine what "most valuable" should mean. A lot of people like to go with how a team looks when the MVP candidate isn't playing in a game. How much does he change what's going on out there? How would that team do when presented with an alternate universe in which their best player wasn't a part of the equation at all and yet they were built the exact same way? Could that team make the playoffs?
However, that doesn't mean we needed to do this with the 2015-16 MVP. Golden State Warriors' demigod Stephen Curry controlled the story of the entire season. Whatever he did on the court had the most interest and it wasn't even close. He had the highest selling jersey. He had the biggest moments. He had the highest ratings. And he put up a historic season that seemed impossible prior to his ascension into historic stardom.
LeBron said recently that when you look at everything Steph has done, he deserved the award. He rhetorically asked if you can have a debate about this year's award based on the season Steph and the Warriors had. However, he also threw in a little qualifier after confirming Curry's accolade.
"When you talk about most valuable, then you can have a different conversation," the Cleveland Cavaliers' star told a scrum of reporters.
Wait, what?
Curry's response when asked about James' comments?
"I've gotten really good at ignoring people, so that is the theme of the last two years," Curry said to reporters. "So I'm alright."

A bigger deal will be made out of this than needs to be because it's LeBron and it's Steph and we're fairly certain they're going to square off in the Finals in a couple of weeks. James was extremely complimentary of Curry and said in multiple ways that Curry deserved the award. It's just that the remark about a different conversation when it comes to most valuable is confusing. Maybe the full context of the quote and the vibe of the media session isn't apparent in that clip?
Either way, these are the two best players in the world and they're each 4-7 games away from turning this NBA Finals match-up into an annual event. We always want to see the best going against each other for the title and that's what we could get once again. The Cavs just have to dispatch Toronto/Miami and the Warriors just have to get rid of Oklahoma City.
Then we'll see the value of each guy in the NBA Finals.
