Steve Kerr has been out for the majority of the NBA playoffs with a back injury. The injury is a complication from surgery he had in 2015 that has led to spinal fluid leaking. The leaks have led to nausea, pain and general inability to do his job as an NBA head coach.

Kerr gave reporters an update on his status Tuesday and confirmed what everybody had been thinking, that he will not be coaching in the NBA Finals, at least for now. Kerr did not rule out the possibility of returning sometime during the series and did say he would travel with the team to Cleveland.

Kerr left the door open for a return, but honestly that just feels unlikely at this point. Even with him traveling to Cleveland, the stress that coaching puts on his body has to be too much if it's kept him out this long. With all the time he's missed it would honestly be a shock to see him return.

The Warriors have managed without Kerr. Mike Brown has kept the status quo, and Golden State has yet to lose a game. However, the Cavaliers will be a true test of both the Warriors and Brown.
