WATCH: 76ers introduce Joel Embiid as 'The Process'
Sixers announce their star by his preferred moniker
Joel Embiid is the most popular 76er since Allen Iverson. He's only played three games but it's been incredible to see the hype form around the young man.
Embiid, for his part, still credits Sam Hinkie for believing in him, and despite the now-former GM having resigned last year, Embiid has told people he wants his nickname to be "The Process." Clearly, the Sixers weren't going to indulge this after pushing Hinkie out and replacing him with Jerry Colangelo and his son Brian.
Or are they?

This is cool on multiple levels.
1. It's a righteous nickname. It just works, and it actually reflects something about him, the work he had to do to get back from his injuries and obscure enough to require people to explain it to kids when they ask about him in five years.
2. It's good on the Sixers for letting this slide. They could have been petty about it, but it supports a young man who's passionate the way young men are. It also gives credit to Hinkie, who drafted Embiid, which might have honestly cost him his job.
3. It's an interesting and fun thing about the Sixers, who remain winless after losing to the formerly winless Magic on Tuesday.
