WATCH: Cavaliers set franchise record with 75 points in first half of Game 5
LeBron James and Co. got off to a tremendous start
The Cleveland Cavaliers needed a victory in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals in order to secure their third straight trip to the NBA Finals.
With LeBron James leading the way, they got off to amazing start. No, it wasn't the 41-point lead they had at the half in Game 2, but it's just as commanding. Plus, this first half was historic, as the Cavaliers went up 75-57 after the first 24 minutes, the 75 points setting a Cavaliers franchise record for points in a half during the postseason.
They shot 60 percent from the floor and hit eight 3-pointers. LeBron James led the way with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Deron Williams stepped up to chip in 14 points off the bench.

No matter how hard the Celtics tried, the Cavaliers were unstoppable in the first half. In fact, the 75 points were the most any team has scored in a half in the postseason since 2003, when the Mavericks scored 83 against the Kings.
