Cavaliers' LeBron James: Opts out of Olympic games
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

James won't play for Team USA in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reports.

In a widely expected move, James joins a slew of American players electing to sit out the Games. James is coming off a very long season that ended with his third NBA championship, so he'll take some time off to get a much-needed break from the grind. James has already stated he'll be back with the Cavaliers next season, so the Finals MVP can keep his focus on preparing for another title run in 2016-17.

Cavaliers' LeBron James: Says he'll return to Cleveland next season
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

James told USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt on Wednesday that he will return to the Cavaliers next season.

The Cavaliers held their championship parade in Cleveland on Wednesday, and while it's possible that James, who claimed his third NBA Finals MVP award, was swept up in the emotion of the event, there was little doubt that he'd leave his hometown team this summer. He's still expected to opt out of the final season of his two-year contract to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, but James is likely only doing so to increase his earnings with the salary cap set to rise. James figures to sign another short-term deal as the Cavaliers look to further flesh out the roster around him.

Cavaliers' LeBron James: Records triple-double to clinch championship in Game 7
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

James totaled 27 points (9-24 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-10 FT), 11 rebounds, 11 assists, three blocks and two steals across 47 minutes during Sunday's 93-89 Game 7 win over the Warriors.

James wasn't particularly proficient from the floor Sunday, but he delivered the first triple-double in a Game 7 of the NBA Finals since the Lakers' James Worthy did it back in 1988. Unsurprisingly, with averages of 29.7 points (on 49.4% shooting from the floor), 11.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 2.6 steals, 2.3 blocks and 1.9 three-pointers in 42.0 minutes per game during the series, James was a unanimous choice among voters for the NBA Finals MVP -- the third of his career -- after leading the Cavaliers all the way back from a 3-1 series deficit with several superhuman efforts. It's the third NBA title for James and first for the Cavaliers, who ended a 52-year streak of no pro sports championships in the city of Cleveland.

Cavaliers' LeBron James: Turns in MVP-caliber performance in Game 6
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

James collected 41 points (16-27 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 6-8 FT), 11 assists, eight rebounds, four steals and three blocks over 43 minutes during Thursday's 115-101 victory over the Warriors in Game 6 of the Finals.

For the second consecutive game, the four-time MVP put the Cavs' offense on his shoulders, and even drew the most talked-about foul call of the postseason on Stephen Curry to put the final nail in the Warriors' coffin Thursday. James now has double-doubles in five of the six games of the series thus far, and has shot over 50 percent from the field in four straight. He's even had his long-range game running hot, as he was 7-for-14 from beyond the arc combined in Games 5 and 6. With a showdown for the ages in a hostile environment looming for Sunday's Game 7, James will undoubtedly have to summon yet another otherworldly performance for the Cavs to have a chance to become the first team to ever come back from a 3-1 Finals deficit.

Cavaliers' LeBron James: Dominates in Game 5 win over Warriors
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

James recorded 41 points (16-30 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 5-8 FT), 16 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and three blocks across 43 minutes during the Cavaliers' 112-97 win over the Warriors in Monday's Game 5.

James and Kyrie Irving were sensational in Game 5, combining for 82 of the Cavs' 112 points. It was also an amazingly well-rounded two-way effort for James, who is averaging 2.3 steals and 1.1 blocks in the postseason. The 16 boards he pulled down were also a playoff-high, and he's now claimed at least 11 rebounds in five of his last six contests.
